Here’s what you need to know about visiting Vanuatu as a tourist, as shared by the Vanuatu Ministry of Health via the Vanuatu Government’s Covid-19 website.
BEFORE TRAVEL TO VANUATU:
There is no requirement for travellers to Vanuatu to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, although it is strongly encouraged for all those who are eligible.
There is also no requirement for Covid-19 testing. However, those who are sick with COVID-19 or are unwell are encouraged to postpone their travel.
No countries are exempt from these requirements.
IMMIGRATION REQUIREMENTS:
Travellers on a tourist visa must have:
- A confirmed return ticket to their country of origin, and
- Confirmation of accommodation at an accredited tourist facility, e.g., a hotel, motel, bungalow or resort, OR
- A letter of invitation from a sponsor in Vanuatu.

Note:

- Only citizens from countries that are not exempt countries will be required to apply for a Tourism Visa. The link to the application form is below, and it must be completed and returned to the Vanuatu Department of Immigration and Passport Services for approval prior to travel.
- For citizens of countries that are exempt, a Tourism Visa will be granted upon arrival into Vanuatu by the Vanuatu Department of Immigration and Passport Services.

DURING TRAVEL TO VANUATU:
A well-fitted mask is no longer required to be worn on flights to Vanuatu and at the airport upon arrival to Vanuatu.
However, the Ministry of Health continues to recommend their use, especially for those who are particularly vulnerable to Covid-19. Airlines and vessels may request that masks be worn under specific conditions.
UPON ARRIVAL TO VANUATU:
You won’t need to quarantine upon arrival into Vanuatu.
Testing upon or after arrival is also not required, so long as you do not have any Covid-19 symptoms and have not been exposed to COVID-19. Travellers who experience Covid-19 symptoms are encouraged to isolate OR can undertake a Covid test*.
*Testing is available at health facilities and pharmacies for those with symptoms.
Arrival by Sea: The above requirements also apply to those entering Vanuatu by sea, if there are no symptoms and there has been no exposure to COVID-19.
IF YOU TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID-19 WHILE IN VANUATU:
Travellers to Vanuatu, including tourists who test positive to COVID-19 while in Vanuatu, will be requested to isolate until there has been no fever and no worsening or new symptoms for at least 48 hours.
Medical care should be sought if symptoms have not improved within 5 days or if you experience severe symptoms.
For tourists, isolation can be done at a hotel or resort. Visitors are encouraged to have travel insurance.
